Thousands of protesters have filled the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the shooting of Jacob Blake, who was partially paralyzed after a white officer fired seven shots into his back as he climbed into his car, fleeing arrest.
Protests have occurred in all 50 states and D.C., as well as hundreds of smaller towns and cities, in support of Black Lives Matter following the murder of George Floyd who was killed during arrest by a Minneapolis police officer.
Prisons are nearly perfect breeding grounds for coronavirus: the population lives in close-quarters, with people who don’t necessarily have access to soap, or hand sanitizer, or good healthcare. Hallways are small and tight, by design.
The fear is that the coronavirus is spreading, and will lead to more widespread slowdowns in the economy as people are pulled out of economic activity as they’re stuck at home, discouraged from going to restaurants, afraid to visit malls, and more.
A driverless delivery vehicle just received a first-ever approval from the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to hit the streets even though it doesn’t meet federal safety standards for cars and trucks.
