Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and ruler of Dubai.
He is also the father of the princess known as Sheikha Latifa, who, just before fleeing the country, recorded a terrifying video detailing her imprisonment and torture at the direction of her father.
Her elaborate plan for escape from Dubai included jet skiing out to a yacht, where she was bound for India and then the United States.
She has not been seen since.
Her family released unconfirmed photos in December as evidence, they say, that she is recuperating from a kidnapping.
Latifa’s video is a chilling 39 minute account of her life in Dubai, including her prediction that she would not survive if her father caught her attempting an escape. It has had more than 2 million views on YouTube. Watch the video here.

Yet, arrests, imprisonments and torture are described in the recent Human Rights Report.
Which is the real Dubai? Let’s take a look.
