President Trump ordered a drone attack that killed the second-most important person in Iran, General Qasem Soleimani, leading to hundreds of thousands of mourners marching in his funeral while chanting “death to America.”
Twitter blew up with talk of world war 3.
first, why kill Soleimani
Soleimani was responsible for coordinating somewhere between 10-20,000 Shiite fighters across the region, through intelligence, special forces operations, financial dealings and politics. He even supported Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad (the dude that dropped chemical weapons on his own people hundreds of times).
Soleimani was brilliant and effective and committed to getting Americans out of the Middle East, and–among other things– improved his explosive devices to meet that goal, killing hundreds of US troop members and injuring thousands more. He organized the Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthi in Yemen and the shiites in Iraq. He was probably the most destabilizing force in the entire Middle East.
reactions to his death
Iraq voted to send US embassy members and US military packing.
Iran announced it will resume its nuclear program, despite its agreement with world leaders (President Trump pulled out of the agreement).
Iran also declared it will carry out “severe revenge” for the killing.
is this the start of ww3?
