Venezuela military uses deadly force to turn back aid for starving citizens

Trucks attempting to bring desperately needed food and supplies into Venezuela were met with deadly fire by the Venezuelan military under control of President Nicolás Maduro.

  • The aid was promised by opposition leader, Juan Guaidó.
  • Protestors supporting Gauido filled the streets in hopes of opening a path for the supply trucks, and blocking the military’s effort to turn the aid back. The military used tear gas, rubber bullets and deadly force to shut down the operation.
  • The country is experiencing near-economic collapse along with a humanitarian disaster, mostly out of mismanagement and corruption under Maduro, the country’s socialist dictator.
  • Thousands of protesters cross Venezuela are calling for him to step down.
