
The Department of Labor reports a spike in job openings at hotels and restaurants, maybe because of hospitality’s (prior) tendency to hire illegal immigrants and the (current) trend to shut that down.
- In hotels and restaurants, tight profit margins from forever-rising rent and labor costs, as well as huge employee turnover rates for employees (from summer employment, for example) has led many employers to use “undocumented labor.”
- With stricter immigration policy, that trend is shifting.
